Need some fitness inspiration? You’ll find heavy dose of it by simply following Victoria’s Secret Angel Romee Strijd on Instagram.
The dutch model is rather angelic, with a body is that is an actual gift from the heavens.
While she has been genetically blessed and it is her job to be in supreme condition year round Romee has graced us mere mortals with her fitness secrets.
Chatting to Harpers Bazaar UK, there’s no hiding the fact that Romee works out a lot.
What we love about her approach is the the emphasis on variety and how she integrates it into her lifestyle and relationships – hello weekend yoga classes followed by brunch.
Read on for the 8 fitness rules she follows, and be encouraged by the fact that snacks are a key part of her routine too – so she is human then…
1. Be open minded about buzzy wellness trends
“I’ve tried the infrared sauna and I actually really like it. You have all these different coloured lights and every colour does something different. [I also use] the jade roller. I put it in my freezer, so it’s extra cold. And, I use it in the morning when I’m super tired. I feel like it takes the puffiness out of the eyes after flying or after a short night.”
2. Keep up your fitness routine even when you’re on the road
“Lately, I’ve been working out in hotels, because I’ve been traveling a lot. It’s actually fun to sometimes be by yourself, put your headphones on, make a little workout schedule and just do it.”
3. Hit the gym with your partner for extra motivation
“My boyfriend and I workout together. We never really do the same training, but we go to the gym together and then we say, ‘Okay, one hour from now we’re leaving.’ So, it helps. We get competitive. We always do a planking challenge. I think it’s really motivating [to work out with your partner], because whenever I don’t feel like it, he’s like, ‘Oh, come on. Let’s do it! Let’s get it over with!’”
4. Create a regular workout schedule
“I would say I workout four to five times a week. On my day off, I like to do it in the morning and take my shower and get ready for the day. When I’m working, I mostly go straight after work, before dinner.”
5. You don’t need fancy equipment
“For abs, I like a little circuit on the mat. With every [exercise], you should always be using your abs—even when you do squats. Try to feel them [with every movement]. I’ve been doing everything myself with ankle weights and resistance bands, and I bring my jump rope when I travel. You can even do it in a hotel room if you have a mat.”
6. Turn working out into a social event
“[The Angels and I] always try to work out together and then plan a nice brunch or lunch after. It’s really motivating. Jasmine [Tookes] is the most hardcore. She’s strong. She can do a lot of weights!”
7. Ease into a fitness routine with short bursts of activity

YES @thelovemagazine @kegrand 🎄 Day 23 of #LOVEADVENT is weights day with @romeestrijd, #STAYSTRONG.🏋️♀️ “What I like about the LOVE Advent Calendar is that they want to showcase women in a sensual perspective, but they do it in a cool, edgy way. The videos are sometimes over the top, showing a bit more of the girls than you regularly see in videos, but they get away with it, as they have a great team of creative people that put all the pieces together in a certain way that eventually makes the videos so cool.” 🖤 Director @philpoynter Fashion Editor @sallylyndley Make-up @hungvanngo Hair @cameronjon Casting @bitton and @twodadstwokids 👊🏼 @dogpound @dara__hart @kirkmyersfitness XO.
“I’m not always motivated, but you just have to go do it because afterwards you feel so great and you enjoy the day more because you’ve done it. So, just start somewhere. Just do something. Say to yourself that you only have 15 minutes or something and then it comes from there.”
8. Snacks are your best friend
“Because I travel so much and work out so much I have to make sure I eat enough. For me, it always helps to bring snacks on the way. So, I bring my favourite dark chocolate bar from Hu Kitchen. Then, I eat a lot of fruit and RX bars. Just make sure you have enough with you.”
