She might have been tipped off her ‘highest paid model in the world’ throne by this model in 2017, but Gisele Bündchen is still one of the most influential model out there – she did hold the number one spot from 2002 to 2016 after all, is still ranked number two.
As such it’s all the more empowering and refreshing to see the 37-year-old Brazilian shunning makeup for her latest Vogue cover.
Posing for Vogue Italia the creative decision to allow Gisele to go make-up free has definitely made a statement, and history too – with Gisele being the first ever supermodel to go make-up free on the cover of Vogue.
Fully on show and unadulterated are her iconic freckles, full brows, and tousled golden tresses.
Adding to the authenticity of the photo shoot, photographer Jamie Hawkesworth used strictly natural light while shooting as well as film only, which is unretouchable and hence un-photoshopable (that’s definitely not a word!).
Vogue Italia reports that Gisele also styled herself for the cover and full shoot.
