We’ve thought it for some time, but now the secret about how impressive Penneys’ (aka Primark) beauty range is well and truly out after getting the seal of approval from makeup guru Huda Kattan.
In a new blog post titled “Why Primark Beauty Might Just Be The Best Thing We Discovered This Year” the makeup artist slash entrepreneur slash internet sesation said that “Primark’s new collection has pretty much everything.”
“From foundation and contour sticks to liquid eyeliner, glitter palettes, lip liners, nail varnish and tons more. You could probably fill an entire makeup bag for less than £30, so of course, we had to play with them,” the blog post began.
After testing out the range, the HB team gave their verdict on Primark’s Matte Metallic Liquid Lipstick, Gold Rush 28-Shade Glitter Palette, nail varnishes, and Insta Girl Diamond Lip topper
“The glitters are pretty intense and actually have amazing staying power; they didn’t fall on our cheeks AT ALL. The glitters look really pretty patted on top of the eyelid, either on top of a cream or powder,” she said of the budget retailer’s glitter eyeshadow palette.
Commenting on Primark’s liquid lipsticks, Huda wrote: “The bronze shade is surprisingly pigmented, so you can wear it alone, or use it on top of a liquid lipstick and it will give a metallic finish.”
There was only one fail: “‘Glitter Tips’, (a gel glitter formula designed to add sparkle to the end of your lashes), which was definitely a miss – glitter at the end of your lashes just doesn’t work!”
Her final verdict? Despite simple packaging, the value for money affords beauty addicts the ability to play as they please with the make-up, using copius amounts of makeup for a night out to create an on-trend look.
“We’ll say that the Primark collection is pretty much what you can expect, not amazing quality and the packaging of some eyeshadow palettes is very basic, but for the price, we love that this gives you the chance to play, especially if you’re not massively into makeup or just want to try out new trends.”
Huda’s own range is available to online at shophudabeauty.com now, and became available to shop in-store in Ireland for the first time last year when they landed at Brown Thomas.
