Ireland Qualifies For The Eurovision Final For The First Time in Five Years

Ireland’s 2018 Eurovision entry Ryan O’Shaughnessy has made it to this year’s Eurovision final.

The 18th performer at the first semi-final in Lisbon, Ryan impressed with his song Together and secured Ireland our first spot in the final for five years.

The last act from Ireland to reach the Eurovision final was Ryan Dolan, with the song Only Love Survives in 2013.

Last night’s semi final saw 19 acts take to the stage and only 10 were voted to go to the final.

Ireland’s entry Together was penned by Mark Caplice, Laura Elizabeth Hughes and O’Shaughnessy.

Of course, social media has been awash with support for Ryan.

He even got the thumbs up from former contestant Dustin, who in true Dustin form said “Go on ya good thing Ryan….” on Twitter.

Another former contestant Nicky Byrne, who fell at semi-final hurdle, also expressed his congratulations and praised Ryan’s “fantastic performance.”.

The grand final takes place this Saturday, will you be watching?
