The first trailer for the remake of “A Star is Born” starring four-time Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper and superstar Lady Gaga has landed and it will give you chills.
Gaga’s first leading role in a major motion picture and Cooper’s directorial debut, the trailer offers us a brief but powerful sample of Cooper and Gaga singing together.
The trailer for the tragic love story opens with Cooper, who plays seasoned musician Jackson Maine, standing before a massive audience, singing a ballad that includes the lyric “Maybe it’s time to let the old ways down.”
He discovers — and soon falls in love with — struggling artist Ally (Gaga).
“I don’t sing my own songs,” she tells Cooper. “I just don’t feel comfortable. Almost every single person has told me that they liked the way I sounded, but they didn’t like the way I looked.”
A clearly smitten Cooper replies, “I think you’re beautiful.”
The storyline goes that Jack coaxes Ally back into the spotlight, but as Ally’s career takes off, the personal side of their relationship breaks down, as Jack fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.
The cast also includes Andrew Dice Clay, with Dave Chappelle and Sam Elliott.
In addition to playing Ally, Gaga, who earned her Oscar nod for the song “Til It Happens to You” from “The Hunting Ground,” performs original songs in the film – all of which was recorded live.
Gaga wrote the original music with Cooper and a handful of artists, including Lukas Nelson, Jason Isbell and Mark Ronson.
“A Star is Born” is slated for release beginning October 5th, 2018.
