Today, June 21st, Dublin Pride 2018 kicks off, and we look forward to the next 9 days as the whole city builds up to Parade Day on June 30th.
Each year the restaurant and cafe community is one that really gets behind the celebration.
Leading the pack this year is the beloved Chameleon of Dublin’s Temple Bar.
The Indonesian restaurant, who specialise in bao, have revealed they are working on extremely Instagrammable, rainbow editions of the delicious, usually ghostly white, steamed buns.
Owner Kevin O’Toole shared the colourful creations on the restaurant’s Instagram page with the caption:
“Having some bao fun! We’re so proud of our handmade bao 😉😉 Working on some rainbow bao for Pride because it’s fun!”
This isn’t the first time Kevin has experimented with coloured version of the usually ghostly white buns. For St. Patrick’s Day the restaurant sent out green hued bao to their customers.
The long-established Indonesian inspired hideaway, allows you to choose from a number of Indonesian Rijst-Tafel set menus (perfect for groups), or from a selection of Asian tapas, which include their esteemed steamed buns – get it?
Everything that comes from the kitchen hums with the fragrant aromatics of ‘The Spice Islands’, so if you haven’t already visited the rainbow bao buns are a perfect excuse.
Go forth and taste the rainbow.
The 2018 festival will take place from June 21st to 30th, with Pride pre Parade festival from 12noon and the Parade taking place at 2pm on Saturday, June 30th, 2018.
