With a new year comes a host of fresh beauty and makeup trends. Filtering their way down from the SS18 catwalks, where they are at their most extreme, MUA’s try their hand at the standout styles, sharing their efforts on Instagram, and glossy editorial fashion magazines further push them into the public realm.
Then come the brands who will release a bevy of beauty launches in the Spring that tie into the most wearable trends.
To tap into the biggest trends coming along the pipeline we turned to renowned makeup artist Leonard Daly of The Beauty Agency for his predictions of what will be the top three makeup trends in 2018.

Read on for Leonard’s expert insight and advice on how you can easily work the trends yourself.
Trend 1: Brushstroke Liner
“Seen on the catwalks of Jason Wu, Rachel Comey and Tom Ford. This is possibly the easiest eye makeup trend for years. It is almost like makeup artists are begging for the intricate 87 step eye makeup that has become popular to just be gone.
This is a super easy yet can be very dramatic. You can use a strong colour to add just a bit of full colour magic. Or, if a strong colour is not your bag you can do what Pat McGrath did at Tom Ford and use black for a modern smokey eye. But you can use neutral tones also, which will give you the trend but in a far more wearable way.”
Trend 2: Glossy Lips
“The matte lip is finally on it’s way out. As much as a matte lip looks cool, if you don’t have perfectly hydrated lips they end up looking dry and cracked.
Adding a touch of gloss to your lipstick makes them look healthier, bigger and far more kissable!”
Trend 3: Twiggy-inspired Lashes
“I am always a fan of lashings of lashes. When I saw Peter Philips makeup at the Dior show my heart sang. Spidery lashes really clumped together but made modern with fresh dewy skin, barely any other eye makeup.
Best of all this is so easy to do. Just use the tip of your mascara wand to stick your lashes together instead of separating them as normal. I have even done this with a set of fake lashes when a girl does not have the thickest lashes.”
