Hands up if watching a ‘Keeping Up With Obamas‘ TV show would entertain you more than keeping up with Kim and Co getting facials and bitching behind each others backs? (Though we’ll admit there is a time and a (hungover) place for KUWTK)
Well you might be intrigued to hear that Barack and Michelle Obama are in advanced negotiations with Netflix to produce content for the streaming service, according to The New York Times.
Okay, a ‘Keeping Up With The Obamas’ style show probably isn’t in the works, but The Times reports that the former president and former first lady would aim to highlight inspirational stories, and would be up for taking on roles behind and/or in front of the camera.
Eric Schultz, a senior adviser to the former president, told the Times, “President and Mrs. Obama have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire. Throughout their lives, they have lifted up stories of people whose efforts to make a difference are quietly changing the world for the better.
As they consider their future personal plans, they continue to explore new ways to help others tell and share their stories.”
The article reports that while Barack is keen to host a show moderating conversations on topics such as health care and immigration, Michelle would be interested in a show on nutrition, a passion of hers.
Among the possibilities are the 44th president moderating , while the former FLOTUS could focus a program on nutrition, which she championed throughout her time in the White House.
Netflix declined to comment when and representatives for the Obamas did not immediately respond to request for comment, but we are hoping we’ll be seeing Barack and Michelle on our screens soon in not only one but possibly two shows.
