Holly White’s Kind Beauty: How to Master the No-Make Up Make Up Look

When it comes to beauty, trends will always go in and out of style, but the no make-up look will always be chic.

I’ve always loved that kind of natural polished beauty and found some key products that are universal, long wearing and blend well to give you that backstage catwalk glow.

The reality is very few of us would actually like to go out without any make up on and we all usually have a few things we would like to conceal so here are my recommendations to achieve that no-make up make up look.

I’ve written about primers before (you can read all about my two favourites here) so there’s no need to go into too much detail on those, but one thing I notice is at this time of year my skin is paler than usual, and I find myself warming it up with tan most weekends.

NOTE sunglow-foundation

An easy way around matching your changing complexion shade is to apply a little bit of the NOTE Sunglow Foundation (€14.95) when you are more tanned – which has SPF 15- directly to your foundation and mixing on the back of your hand.

It’s a very sheer tint and will warm up any foundation naturally and effectively. A little goes a long way so go slowly. You can also mix it with your body moisturiser for a subtle glow.

Applying this with your base will mean you can go gentle on the bronzer later for an even more natural look.

Urban Decay All Nighter Waterproof

Urban Decay All Nighter Waterproof full coverage concealer (€24) is new to the range and absolutely incredible.

Apply this lightly around the eye area and on your lid for the perfect canvas for any shadow. This does what it says on the tin and a little goes a long way and it effectively conceals bags under your eyes, spots and blemishes. I’m a big fan.

White Liner

Next up lightly lining your lower waterline with a little white pencil really opens your eyes up making you look more alert, even if you don’t feel it, while still keeping the look natural.

Of all the cruelty free mascaras I have ever tried, this one is the best.

I have used the Sleek MakeUp Eau La La Liner (€6.49) in White Noise for a long time and really notice a difference.

The Urban Decay Troublemaker mascara (€23.50) formula contains two different types of black pigments, giving it an intensity that’s blacker than any other I’ve tried and it lasts so well.

Vitamin E and panthenol nourish and condition, and a combination of polymers helps the mascara adhere to your lashes for lasting wear—no flaking, smearing or smudging which would spoil the look immediately.

Full thick brows are more a mainstay than a trend now but most people have some gaps they want to fill.

My long-term favourite product is Colour Wow (€38). It’s a waterproof shadow that was created to conceal grey hairs but actually it’s a fabulous multi-tasker.

Given that the average woman ingests over seven tubes of lipstick in her lifetime, keeping it natural with lip products is a very good thing.

Applied with a fine brush this doesn’t budge and I love the natural look it gives. Given that it withstands hair brushing and drying it’s perfect on eyebrows and lasts all day.

For a light dusting of a glow mineral is the way to go.

The Bella Pierre Mineral Bronzer (€24.95) in Peony can be lightly pressed onto eyelids, cheekbones and your cupids bow with a finger and then blended out with a fluffy brush for that gorgeous healthy shine in all the right places.

To complete the no-make up look a winning lip combination is Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat (€22) in Pillow Talk – which I actually wore on my wedding day- to line your lips followed by a dab of Tata Harper Volumizing Lip and Cheek Tint (£32) in shade Very Popular.

This whole look takes about 10 minutes to apply, lasts all day and can easily be enhanced with more shadow and some liner for nighttime.
