In August we heard the fabulously news that the musical adaptation of one of our all-time favourite movies, Legally Blonde, was coming to Dublin’s Bord Gais Energy Theatre, and now the news has broke that Legally Blonde The Musical will be making its way down south too.
As part of their UK and Ireland tour, Legally Blonde The Musical is also coming to Killarney’s INEC, from July 10th – 14th, 2018.
The smash-hit Broadway and West End show will also be playing in Dublin from March 5th – 1Oth.
While the story line for many of us is ingrained in our brains, for those who aren’t quite as enlightened, Legally Blonde tells the story of homecoming queen Elle Woods.
When her boyfriend dumps her for someone more ‘serious’ and less ‘blonde’, Elle hits the books and heads for Harvard Law School.
Based on the movie featuring Reese Witherspoon, Legally Blonde The Musical brings her educational and romantic endeavour to life in an all singing, all dancing, fun-filled fashion.
The adaption has earned seven Tony nominations and 10 Drama Desk Award nominations during its Broadway run.
In the UK it was nominated for 5 Laurence Olivier Awards winning 3 including Best New Musical, and was nominated for 8 Whatsonstage Awards winning 4 including Best Musical.
The tour that will make its way to Ireland next year will feature EastEnders star Rita Simon and Coronation Street and Emmerdale star Bill Ward who will play Paulette Bonafonte and Professor Callahan respectively.
The musical also has two dogs in it’s cast, a Chihuahua named Bruiser and another called Rufus, who they will be holding open auditions for after every stop on the tour.
Tickets will go on sale on www.ticketmaster.ie.
