Metropolis Festival 2018 Line Up Revealed

Metropolis Festival for its 4th edition in the RDS following last year’s triumphant sell-out Bank Holiday Weekend. Metropolis Festival is a multi-stage, indoor winter music festival & conference which launched 2015 in the RDS and was the first of its kind in Ireland. Taking place across the October Bank Holiday Weekend, the festival has created a whole new experience in the Irish festival landscape.

We recently announced VILLAGERS will headline and curate the Saturday night of Metropolis Festival 2018. Conor O’Brien’s fourth studio album, The Art Of Pretending To Swim, will be released by Domino THIS Friday – 21st September. This will be the Villagers biggest indoor Irish performance to date and only indoor Dublin show in 2018.

We are now excited to reveal some of the artists that will be performing on this extra-special bill. Without further ado..

Prepare to catch the brilliant UK trio FRIENDLY FIRES. They have burst back on to the scene following a 5 year hiatus with new singles, a brand new album (due out next year) and some serious live dates. Following on from the recent single ‘Love Like Waves’ the band stormed a series of sold-out live dates in the UK, where the live reviews have been nothing short of incredible. . Expect some new tracks to be interwoven with some of their stand out tunes like ‘Kiss Of Life’, ‘Skeleton Boy’ and ‘Paris’.

With their signature melodies and rhythmic, raucous pizazz, Irish 8-piece BOOKA BRASS will join us this October bank holiday. Featuring trumpets, trombones, saxophones, sousaphones, and drums – these guys know how to get a party started. They’ve performed the length and breadth of the country and have been special guests to the likes of Hot 8 Brass Band and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble.

Making waves on the Irish music scene is the super talented folk singer DAVID KEENAN. Words and melody took hold of David at a very early age. Exposed to the writings of Behan, Yeats, and Wilde with the soundtrack of Dylan, Buckley and The Dubliners illuminating his formative years. Having played alongside the likes of Mick Flannery, Hothouse Flowers, Damien Dempsey, and Glen Hansard, David is fast becoming one of Ireland’s most talked about young artists. Directed by the talented Myles O’Reilly, check out David’s track ‘Cobwebs.

The Master of Ceremonies…know for his whimsical musical comedy and armed with his trusty keyboard we are chuffed to have DAVID O’DOHERTY join us for the Saturday night of Metropolis. Expect to hear some jaunty jingles and some quirky observations from the Dublin comedian. A regular face on panel shows such as ‘8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown’, ‘QI’, ‘Would I Lie To You’, along with his many festival appearances both at home and abroad including the Edinburgh Fringe and Melbourne Comedy Festival – you’re in for a treat with his latest show!
