Do you know a queen who deserves to wear a crown? or have always dreamed of being a role model for young women yourself? The applications for Miss Universe Ireland 2018 are now officially open.
Following on from the success of last year’s edition, with new director Brittany Mason at the helm, the Miss Universe Ireland competition will be continuing as it means to go on.
Once again this year, the 2018 event will empower intelligent women by coaching them in the key life skills that lead to professional and personal success and providing them with a platform to advocate for social causes in Irish communities.
Irish winners have in the past gone on to enjoy great success, like last year’s winner Cailin Toibín who made the Top 4 in Europe and the final 16 at Miss Universe 2017.
Cailin is the 8th Irish woman in history to make it to finals at Miss Universe and the very first since Roz Purcell in 2010.
To put this into further perspective, the closest Ireland has gotten to the Miss Universe crown are two 2nd place runners up, one in 1963, Marlene Margaret McKeown, and the other in 1983, Roberta Brown.
Walking away with almost €40,000 worth of prizes as Miss Universe Ireland, Cailin won the title at a record breaking sold out show with 600 attendees and thousands watching on Facebook Live at the Round Room at The Mansion House.
She travelled as Miss Universe Ireland more than any other representative before her often doing appearances as an ambassador for Ireland ie Toronto Film Festival or advocating for charities such as Pieta House.
From this year on every Miss Universe Ireland will also serve as an advocate for charity as part of the title.
First Round applications are now being accepted to compete for the Title of Miss Universe Ireland 2018 with further details in terms of requirements and application form available here.
Entrants The closing date is June 22nd 2018.
The final contest will take place on August 2 in the Round Room at the Mansion House with James Patrice once again acting as Master of Ceremonies on the night.
