Families, friends and well-known members and supporters of Ireland’s LGBTQ+ community gathered yesterday evening at the iconic GPO, O’Connell street, to celebrate the launch of the Dublin LGBTQ+ Pride Festival 2019. Guests were treated to a Tesco finest* drinks reception followed by a sneak preview of the festival programme, entitled ‘Rainbow Revolution’ to officially kick off this year’s festivities. A number of colleagues from the festival’s platinum sponsor, Tesco, were also in attendance to show their support for the launch, which marks Tesco Ireland’s third year of support to the festival.

Prominent figures from within the LGBTQ+ community and well-known supporters including Senator David Norris gathered in anticipation of the official launch announcement, which included insightful and empowering speeches, delivered by festival manager Eddie McGuinness, this year’s Pride parade grand marshal Will St. Leger and more.

Tesco colleagues in attendance on the night were ‘Bursting with Pride’ for Tesco to be returning as Platinum sponsor for Dublin Pride Festival 2019. The sponsorship builds on the success of Tesco’s involvement in the festival over the past two years and is a colourful embodiment of Tesco’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

To celebrate Dublin Pride 2019, selected Tesco stores across the Dublin parade route will once again turn their iconic Tesco chevrons to the rainbow colours of Pride. To help colleagues and customers celebrate diversity throughout the festival, selected stores will also have special Pride themed décor including rainbow bunting, rainbow roses and official merchandise.

Tesco’s presence in this year’s Pride parade is also set to be bigger and better than any before, bringing over 200 colleagues together to take to the streets of the capital in celebration of what Pride means to them.

The 2019 festival takes place from June 20th to 30th, with the pinnacle Pride Parade taking over the streets on Saturday, June 29th, 2019.
