It was a wonderful occasion in Dublin as the opening night for Miss Saigon took place at the Bord Gáis Theatre, Grand Canal on Tuesday, October 10.

The show is produced by the renowned Cameron Mackintosh, and alongside his team the opening night was highly praised by the musical-goers via social media. Mackintosh previously spoke about Miss Saigon’s history, and that “it’s hard to believe that it has been over 25 years since [it] first opened, but if anything, the tragic love story of the show has become even more relevant today.

“This new production, directed by Laurence Connor, takes a grittier, more realistic approach than the original production while still delivering the power and epic sweep of Boublil and Schönberg’s tremendous score.”

Among the audience of the sold out first night, Irish stars came out to soak up an evening of culture. Presenters Karen Koster, Pippa O’Connor-Ormond and husband Brian Ormond, as well as TV star Baz Ashmawy and his partner Tanja, actress Aoibhinn McGinnity, and radio broadcaster Colm Hayes all attended.
