Last night, Thursday 16th August, special guests toasted to the Schweppes 1783 Alchemy Bar at The Big Grill for opening night of the popular foodie festival, in Dublin’s leafy Herbert Park.

Running until Sunday 19th, The Big Grill Festival is Europe’s biggest BBQ event, with food and drink lovers travelling from all around the country to indulge in all the festival has to offer. This year, the new Schweppes 1783 range of premium tonics is an official partner of The Big Grill, bringing its new range of premium mixers to the smokin’ hot festival.

The range, which was created in partnership with some of the world’s most acclaimed mixologists, consists of five unique flavours made with 100% natural ingredients. The 1783 Alchemy Bar is located at the heart of the festival, where expert mixologists are serving up delicious, handcrafted cocktails. The bar brings to life the alchemy of 1783, the year that pioneering Jacob Schweppe created the first carbonated tonic water in the world.

Joining Schweppe at the 1783 Alchemy Bar to celebrate the opening night of this year’s festival were TV presenter Laura Whitmore, comedian and Love Island voice-over artist Iain Stirling, artist and fashion designer Helen Steele, DJ and model January Russell, stylist Clementine MacNeice and top bloggers James Butler, Niamh O’Sullivan, Ciara O’Doherty and Lawson Mpame.

The five 1783 flavors consist of Cucumber Tonic Water, Salty Lemon Tonic Water, Crisp Tonic Water, Light Tonic Water and Ginger Ale. Each of the innovative new mixers is championed in the 1783 Alchemy Bar’s signature cocktail menu. Guests on the opening night sampled the Alchemy Bar’s hero recipes including crowd favourite Tequila and Schweppes 1783 Salty Lemon served with fresh juice and a wedge of lemon, a Classic 1783 G&T with Dingle Gin, a sharp and zingy Vodka and Schweppes 1783 Crisp Tonic, served with grapefruit sherbet bitters and garnished with grapefruit slice, and the smooth Jameson Whiskey and Schweppes 1783 Ginger Ale, served with a wedge of fresh lime.

The Big Grill Festival is now in its 5th year and is proving to be even bigger and better than before. Local restaurants and international street food vendors from London, New York and Buenos Aires are dishing up an exciting selection of signature charcoal-kissed dishes, giving a world of tasty options to pair with the Schweppes 1783 cocktail creations.
