Following a glorious Autumn stopover in Ballina, Co, Mayo, Other Voices journeys home to Dingle, Co. Kerry for a beautiful winter weekend of music, song and story from November 30th, 2018.
Wrap up well, hit the roads, the trains, the planes, and head West for three heady days of live music, arts and conversation, from the Hennessy Other Voices Music Trail featuring more than 35 artists in 12 venues, to culture series Ireland’s Edge at the glorious Dingle Skellig Hotel. Drop over for the infamous Banter at Foxy John’s, throw a shape at the After Dark club night, enjoy art exhibitions, DJ sets and plenty more.
Of course Dingle also delivers in spades with its food and drink offering, with a host of Michelin recommended eateries including seafood titan Out of the Blue, usually closed this time of year but opening for the first time ever to whet the appetites of Other Voices revellers.
A new spot to check out is Solas Tapas Bar, recently launched in the town, and the ever delicious Global Village. Dingle Cookery School will be offering street food vendors across the weekend, from hog rolls to fish’n’chips. For brunch and lunch check out Goat Street Social and Pantri, while coffee lovers can get their fix at Bean in Dingle and My Boy Blue. Dingle is home to many craft beers and spirits, from the hoppy goodness of West Kerry Brewery and Dick Mick’s Brewery to the distilled delights of Dingle Distillery, all of which will run tasting tours and events over the weekend.
The Other Voices Retail Trail is back for another weekend of great Christmas discounts – flash an Other Voices wristband and enjoy some superb shopping, with Irish design and furnishings at The Coach House, and the locally made Harebell Herb Beauty Collection available from Crinkle.
Indulge in a cheesy Christmas hamper from The Little Cheese Shop or grab some super style bargains at La Boheme and Garvey’s Sports and Leisure. Choose stunning local arts and crafts at Greenlane Gallery, Original Kerry Crafts, Cois Farraige, Uisce Saddlery and Tripster Travel Retro Poster, gorgeous linens in Strawberry Beds, wonderous wax creations at Dingle Candle and drop into Brian de Staicfor beautifully crafted jewellery.
The Wild Atlantic Way is on Dingle’s doorstep and is at its’ most beautiful in the Winter. Take a walk or a drive around the beautiful Slea Head, visit the breath-taking Coumeenole Beach, explore Eask Tower on top of Carhoo Hill and of course, set sail on the most traditional of Dingle adventures in search of Fungi, Ireland’s most famous dolphin.
