Fans of Penneys have all probably have days when they entered the bargain retailer just to pick ‘a few bits’ only to emerge a couple of hours later with seven brown paper bags (the largest size) wondering where the day has gone.
Well if you find yourself easily getting lost in the shopping maze of your local store often and, quite honestly, loving every minute of it then you’ll want to add a visit to the world’s biggest Penneys store to your bucket list.
Opening later this year Birmingham is the city that is readying itself for the opening of the giant Primark (what Penneys is known as outside Ireland) in question.
Work on the site began last year and the new 160,000 sq ft store store is set to open up in December 2018.
The high street store reportedly snapped up the site in 2014 for a rumoured £60 million.
A spokesperson told Birmingham Live: “Primark’s new flagship store in Birmingham Pavilions is scheduled for completion in December 2018.
“The new store will showcase four floors of fashion over 160,000 sq ft of retail space and will feature the latest trends in women’s, men’s and children’s fashions including footwear, accessories as well as lingerie, beauty and homeware.”
Shoppers will enjoy five floors of shopping heaven and the store will also boast WiFi and seating areas – for those crucial mid-shop rest and recovery breaks.
The new build will top the current largest Primark store in Manchester, which is set over three floors.
We’ve adding Birmingham to our bucket lists, whether we’ll be quite as enthusiastic with out bank statements following the trip we’re not as sure.
